THE PERFECT STAGE CREW

By John Kaluta

ACTING is not for everyone, but there are just as many important jobs outside the spotlight.

The most valuable advice in The Perfect Stage Crew comes from author John Kaluta’s many years managing secondary school stage crews in America. He shares what has worked for him in getting things done smoothly, on time and with minimal visits to the emergency room. (His kids learn how to safely use a circular saw.)

I like his easy-going style, both in writing and managing, and found some of his ideas absolutely brilliant. For example, leave the painting of the set to the night before the first technical rehearsal. Everyone will have to stay late, but read his book to find out what the payoff is.

Kaluta’s “workshop” will have you rolling up your sleeves, ready to dive in backstage.
