Day 5

Friday the PSC went up to Baltimore a little early, leaving horrible Washington traffic jams behind. The morning was spent painting the big drop (we have a time-lapse camera on it), and laying out and cutting the entrance doorway. It was a beautiful day so we lunched al fresco at the Inner Harbor, then made our way to the docks. On our first off-site visit (not counting our lunch visit to Lucia's) Otto, Piper, and Abby learned the intricacies of knot-tying for rigging, including the simple overhand knot, figure eight, reef knot (and Granny knot) and bowline. Where in Baltimore would you go to learn rigging? Why, the USS Constellation of course, the last all sail vessel (tall ship) ever built for the US Navy. John and Ivy shot video and still pictures, the crew was piped aboard in style by able seaman BJ Davies, and spent about a half-hour in the bowels of the ship learning their knots.

After disembarking the Constellation the crew assembled the window/entrance unit of the Waldman Hat Shop and took off a little early. We're on again tomorrow 9 - 5, Sunday 10 - 7. Next week looks like 9 - 5 Monday thru Friday.

Some bad news - Lisa has schedule conflicts and is not going to be able to come up. Please consider who (whom) you might like to invite up to participate as Lisa's substitute, call Mr. K before you actually invite anyone.

Stay well...

JK
